Change Consulting thrives on providing strategic communications solutions to help nonprofits, foundations and changemakers build awareness and gain supporters for important causes. Founded in 2008 by Bilen Mesfin, Change works with clients to create and implement communications strategies that can meet their programmatic, fund development, and mission-related goals. We share our clients passion for positive social change and commitment to progressive social justice values, and are proud to partner with the dynamic individuals and leading organizations working to make our communities better. We also work with a range of graphic designers, web developers, researchers and writers to meet our clients' needs.

About Founder and Principal, Bilen Mesfin

With more than a decade of experience in media, Bilen has established a reputation as a trusted strategic communications adviser to some of Northern California’s leading change-makers. Prior to founding Change Consulting, Bilen led and supported communications efforts for San Francisco District Attorney Kamala D. Harris. While there, she created and implemented strategies to roll out the District Attorney’s key initiatives, such as truancy and reentry; led outreach to local, statewide and national multicultural media; managed crisis communications issues as they arose; and served as the Office’s day-to-day print and on-camera spokesperson. A former journalist, Bilen has written for the Associated Press, the Nashville Tennessean, Edutopia and Art & Antiques, among other publications. Bilen has a Master’s in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
