Grantmakers for Girls of Color is growing, and hiring for two new positions. The Communications Associate will contribute to the communications and narrative aspects of G4GC’s work to support the wellbeing, joy, and safety of girls and gender-expansive youth of color. The Manager of the New Songs Rising Initiative will lead the visioning, creation, and implementation of the partnership between Grantmakers for Girls of Color and Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples to mobilize resources towards work that centers and supports Indigenous girls in their families and communities. Next Friday, August 6, Black Organizing Project, Bay Rising, Anti Police-Terror Project and more community partners will host a “Back to School, Back to Sanctuary” Art Jam for Police Free Schools in OUSD at the Lake Merritt Amphitheater. The event will feature live poetry performance, art making, music, care packages for OUSD students starting school on August 9, food and a resource table with know-your-rights materials about the changes implemented on OUSD campuses since the Board voted to eliminate the Oakland Schools Police Department.
