An investment in youth wellbeing, with a focus on the most vulnerable, is an investment in our state’s future.” In an op-ed in The Sacramento Bee, Chet Hewitt of Sierra Health Foundation and Shane Goldsmith of Liberty Hill Foundation call on California policymakers to be bold and commit to investing in community based alternatives to incarceration for our state’s young people.
Young Women’s Freedom Center, in partnership with the Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, SF Adult Probation, and SF Supervisors Hillary Ronen, Matt Haney & Shamann Walton will be releasing their "A Radical Model for Decriminalization" Report on June 19. The event will also honor three women who have “paved the way for those most impacted” with the Cheyenne Bell Legacy Awards.
The Oakland Progressive Party and Townie Awards, which brings together “social justice organizers, political leaders and community members committed to working together to build an inclusive and equitable Oakland for everyone” will take place June 20.
