What We Learned This Week
California Budget and Policy Center convened funders, elected officials, researchers, and advocates for a discussion on how to create economic opportunity for all Californians at Policy Insights 2019. The day included an update on the Governor’s agenda and priorities, how the state is equipping itself for an economic downturn, and workshops that included examining the impact of the racial wealth gap. Our founder and principal Bilen Mesfin Packwood moderated a panel on intentional communications to advance racial and gender equity, featuring Veronica Carrizales, Policy and Campaign Development Director of California Calls, Noreen Farrell, Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates and John Kim, Co-Director of Advancement Project.
