One consequence of school closures across California: girls and gender-expansive youth who get their period did not have access to the tampons and menstrual pads they need. Now, thanks to the leadership of Alliance for Girls and the Young Women’s Freedom Center, the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors has voted to provide $1 million of county dollars “to address the inequities in access to free period products needed by the most vulnerable populations in Santa Clara County during COVID-19 and during the recovery phases.” Next City.
